Moscow, a City of Contrasts: Preserving the Past, Living in the Future

I am a postgraduate student of Journalism and Communication at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. In April 2025, I visited Moscow to participate in the Open Dialogue forum held at the National Centre Russia from April 28 to 30. I arrived on the afternoon of April 27 and left early on May 1. As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I rushed to join a pre-booked city tour that lasted until the evening. During this tour, we visited the Red Square area, which was truly remarkable. The following two days were very busy, as I attended the forum all day with no opportunity to explore the city further. I took an evening flight back after the event concluded. Here, I am sharing one picture—the very first photograph I took in Moscow's business district. It captures a striking contrast between past and present, mirroring Russia’s journey: the Church of Saint Seraphim, a small yet beautiful church nestled amidst towering skyscrapers.
